Welcome

Every book necessarily resembles the traveller who wrote it. If its author is pure in heart, its unsullied pages are infused with the most beautiful emotions, the most extraordinary encounters. To travel in the truest sense, one must discard impediments and allow to bloom within oneself the nomadic spirit, so that worries of food and shelter become secondary, and relationships with others free from all self-interest. A soul so liberated accepts the imprint of the thousand and one splendours and sensations inspired by other communities or natural surroundings. Transboréal writers have surrendered to this etching of the soul, this gentle permeation which, in the Arctic for some, out at sea or in the desert for others, has changed them forever, so that they seek in their writings to assuage their nostalgia for smiles exchanged and shelters left behind, for lands traversed and paradises lost. To read their tales is to assist them in regaining all of this: it is like setting out with them anew.

We are a publishing company specializing in travel books on long journeys achieved by writers who, during the course of their travels, became strongly involved both physically and spiritually with the human and natural environments they aimed to discover. Our main interests lie with the northernmost and southernmost regions of the globe, as well as with remote areas such as Patagonia and Tibet. The trips related were accomplished either on foot, on skis or by dog-sled, or by kayak, canoe or sailing-boat.

We are currently developing six series of books:
“La clé des champs” consists of soft bound photographic albums, 112 to 128 pages in length, dedicated to thematic travels;
“Le génie des lieux” aims on republishing travellers of bygone eras;
“Petite philosophie du voyage” are short and inspired essays, 96 pages in length;
“Sillages” comprises books, from 224 to 664 pages in length, consisting mainly of travel reports with numerous pictures, drawings and maps;
“Chemins de traverse” are collective books on various topics linked with traveling and travel spirit;
“Visions” consists of hard bound photographic albums, 134 pages in length, comprising concise texts related to full page pictures together with informative inserts on geology, biology, natural history or human geography.
